Before many peoplo had gathered at Karori Cemetery - the 'iirst .of i the private, funerals entered the gates, and from 'that time - on, : until ; after, the ■ public' funeral,: i: numerous ■ '.burial sorvices were hold, in all parts of the cemeteryrv -Theafternoon, 'too, saw - more solemn' processions wending .their way up-the. Karori heights, and little bands- of grouped round open graves. It was a touching flight to see four coffins lowered into one largo • tomb, • and just over the rise, tho remains of a mother were interred beside those of -her two daughters... Such sad scenes were witnessed by; a great gathering, and some of the spectators at times showedmore ouriosity than sympathy,: hurrying hither and thither among graves and flowors, anxious lest they flbould miss any part of the prooecdings. Women called: harshlv to rebellious, wandering children, and schoolboys scrambled between: the knees of ■ mourners -to .peer into open graves. Such was the hubbub round . bne ; plot' . ; that '.'the? officiating. minister had to-)enjoin'the,v.spcctatorsvto: bo'; silent.'-before ; 'prdceed : with the sorvico. ■ Ilound tliesesolitary graves,a deplorable lack of respcct for the' dead' Wasat-times, painfully noticeable. The ourious throng seemed io forget; .that' .they; wero treading :.on hallowed ground. :• : - - - : Mother anil Daughters. A large following toak part in tho funeral of -Mrs. Symons,: ner two- daughters (Mary and ; Ethol), and Miss Jessie Ronnie' (maid). Tho four'coffins'were conveyed from Wellington Terrace to tho burial ground on a lorry, draped in black. . Tho interment of Mrs. Symons' and tho Misses Symons took place '.in tlio family plot, situated' in .the Anglican .portion, 'of tho - cemetery. .. The. Revs. W. Shiror nnd J. Paterson conducted .r.hovservico. The body of Miss Ronnie, was buried . in the publio plot, and tho same ministers road the -seryice : over her' grave... Among the • mourners were Messrs. W. S. Iteid (father of- Mrs. Symons),' E. Roid, L. G. Roid, H. P. Rawßon, and E. W. Lowe. --- ; Mr. T.' Rogers. In the afternoon the funoral of Mr. Thomas : Rogorsleft his lut-e residence, 183 Adelaide Road, for tho, Karori Cemetery. Six mourning nnrriagos' followed ilie hearso, and the l burial service conducted by the Rev. W.
