At a special meeting of the Maranui school Comnutteo, held last evening, to consider further tho appointment of a headmaster for tho new school, it was decided, y , at votes to one, to recommend Mr. A. C. Blako (first assistant at To Aro School), ono of the selected candidates, to the board for appointment. Mr. Blake, who has been selected from a list of forty applicants, is a teacher of experience, and a successful record (' C certificate'). He entered tho profession as a pupil-teacher at Sydenham, Christchurch, m 1880, became fourth assistant master there mIBB4, nnd third tho following yeir. In 1887 ho was appointed first assistant at Waimato District High School, and first at Timaru Mam School in 1889. In 1899 ho came to Wellington as first assistant at Mount Cook 1 Boys' School, and was actmghcadmaster there during 1906 He was then transferred to Te Aro School, where he has been for tho last eighteen months, having been in ehargo of tho school for six'months of that period. As a teacher ho has been very favqurably reported upon by the inspectors, Becunng high percentages in his results, and obtaining to his credit a large number of scholarship winners nnder his tuition.
