The Hon. Dr Fmdlay, Minister for Justice, returned to Wellington from Auckland and Botorua last evening. Mr. T. A.-'Peterkw, Mayor of Lower Hnti, who has been unwell for some time, hopes to be'about again inn few'days. • i'The Rev. W. A. The Minister for Labour, the Hon. A. 'w. Hogg, is to be entertained at a garden party at Maßtorton on Thursday afternoon, and in •the evening will attend a banquet in his honour.
During'the first week of March' Mr. C. B. Slorison, barrister, leaves on a trip to England. He Trill be accompanied by his son, who is to complete his legal studies -in England. Mr. Morisqn will be absent from the Dominion about sis or seven months. , It was rumoured in the city yesterday that Mr. T. E. Donne, general manager of the Tourist Department, is to succeed Mr. Kennaway as chief secretary and commercial adviser to the High Commissioner (the Son. W. Hall-Jonos) in London.
Mr. W. Alexander, instructor in engineering to the Wellington Technical School, completes his engagement on March 31, and the following day will leave for England.
Mr. J. A. Brailsford, late sub-editor of the "Taranaki Herald," left hy the pouri yesterday fot San Francisco, where he intends to follow * journalistic pursuits. 'It is Mr. Brailsford's-iiiltimate intention, to ao to the East. Mr. Leslie Ashblilt, of the clerical staff of the Wellington Gas Company, and wellknown in local cricket circles, is leaving Wellington early next month, to take up an appointment with Pearson's, shipping agents and brokers, and timber, merchants, Melbourne.
