"AfterSpm'aroff.had" made all the runriing, Hatch brought Chiarinian along in the last furlongj'and scored- a'rather lucky win. Jessie Lewars was kept altogether too far out oLit in the early stages, the best she could do being to finish, third, nearly ,two lengths- behind the first and' second horses. :; Ingoda, who had rather an easy victory in 'the : .Lyttelton 'Plato, on ;. Thursday,.; was naturally expected -to run fairly well'in'the 'Middle Park: Plate. Owing, : however,: to an unintentional error df identity, elio was distanced.for the. Lyttelton Plate, and: had necessarily to bowithdrawnfrorri'tho.Middle Park Plate., Therace was generally conceded to be a moral certainty for Broadsword, but the two-year-old, with Bst. 31b., found his task too much:for.hira, and .at the finish :he was. beaten by his. stable companion, Sharp-, shooter, who showed improving form' at Trentham last month. 'Sweet Angelus was unlucky at the {start. ' She finished with a tefrifio run ..which was .too late to. land her closoj .than third. Nobel, who ran in the ownership of Mr. Geo, Payne, had the services of' Deeley. He and : Tikitere luMed about a length behind the third horae.

Miss Mischief was the favourite selection in the Hying Handicap, with Serenade next in demand.,. The latter, ran a very smart five furlongs,' and after a good race with Lady Orizoin won by. a length. The favourite had a very bad run; and just failed to head Lady Oripoin for second place. Los Angelos was the .actual favourite in the Post Handicap, . with and Hilarity: next in demand, but the winner turned up. in Field Gun, an outsider, who just had his head in front ■ aftor a gTeat' finish with Valdimar. The; favourite was never prominent. ' In the Selling Race Ivahoff was fortunate enough to get a clear run on the rails, and so' scored a lucky win from Sister Anne, who just failed . to. see the full .distance out.. Alexis, the-favourite, was in. a good, position throughout, but ho ran wide at the turn and could only finish third. Ivanoff was sold -b Mr. Watson, owner of Cerise and Blue. . Winning jockeys,at the meeting wore:—J. M'Clusky,-JiV E. Jones,. R. W. King, and R. Hatch, two each; A Chapman, L. G. King, B. Deeley, G. J. Pine,,D. Cardie, and W. Weir, one each.

MISTAKEN IDENTITY. • (BY .TELEGRAM—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Chrlstchurchy February- 6.
