ASSESSMENT COURT.

TRAMWAY" AND WATER SUPPLY POLLS. The Assessment Court for Wellington City, Dr. M'Arthur presiding, held a sitting on Saturday i morning to hear objections by certain ratepayers to being included on the ■ special roll for the Wadestown tramway poll and the-Wadestown and Northlands water supply poll. Mr. O'Shea appeared on behalf of the Corporation, and Mr. M. Luckio for a number of objectors residing at Goldie's Brae, Mr.'O'Shea intimated that he agiced to tho exclusion of i residents at Goldie's Brao from tho special roll for both the tramway and water loans. Mr. iMoorhouso asked for exemption of a {lortion of Rhodes Estate from tho tramway oan. If one portion had to bo roaded there would bo a waste of about four acres. The Country was also very difficult to road,' and it would not be a sound commorcial proposition to cut up such land. The sections asked to be exempted would not benefit in any way by a tramway running round the top of the hill. This objection was postponed to enable tho magistrate to make an inspection of the ground this afternoon. Ashton B. Fitcliell applied for exemption from tho water roll for Sections 3, 4, 5, and G at Upper Kaiwarra. Tho exemption was allowed, tho council being tho power to mention tho matter again if the land is supplied by water.
