OBITUARY.
Ist TBrxeEiPH.—srrcuL cnßnrirohMNTl Auckland, February 5. Ex-Detective Henderson, for over 41 years in the police service, died at the Auckland District Hospital on Wednesday night, aged 62 jears. Deceased Tvas born'near Abep. deen, Scotland, and came iorit to New Zealand at the age of 19, joining the armed constabulary. Mr Henderson served in connection with the cold escorts in the early davs of t he Otago goldfields. He subsequently joined the polico as a mounted trooper, and worked his wdy up'to be chief detective a position, he,held for many years. He also acted" in a similar capacity at Christchurcli > and ' and seven years ago was , transferred ito AucUand. In last he was retired on pension Mr\ Henderson 'had been in failing health for some time,'and was admitted to the hospital soon, after the* ne» year.' ''
