Replying, at tho, Canada Club's dinner, to the toast of the i Imperial Forceß, MajorGeneral Hoad, Commonwealth Commandant, alluded to the benefits that would result from the inauguration of an Imperial General Staff, and emphasised Australians' miterest in military matters. Ho realised that if Australia had to be defended it would be almost entirely by citizen soldiers.
