Harper officiated ' Miss Elsie Massey's marriage will probably take place at Mangero in March. She has received from the Opposition a presentation, consisting of a tea-service, a large vase, and an exquisite chatelaine bag, all solid silver. \ Miss Adelina Martinengo (Mrs, R. Hayward), who visited Wellington some, time ago. with the Brescians, has decided to settle in IVaini, where she intends to teach the violin. Announcement is made of the engagement of Miss Enid A. Hall, daughter of the late Dr. Hall, of Carlisle, England, to Mr. James E. Mulcahy, eldest, son of Senator Mulcahy, of Hobart. Miss Hatt kayos by tho 'T})imaroa to-morrow for Australia, where she will visit fnends and whero her marriage is to tako placo in June. At Jfasterton, on Tuesday,. Mr. William Young, of Masterton, was married to Miss Annie 'McMahon, of AVestport. The Rev. J. N._ Buttle performed the ceromony, after which a reception was held. Advices to hand by a recent mail (says a Melbourne paper) show that Miss Amy Castles is steadily winning her, way to fame and favour in the Old Land. She is engaged for the best concerts in London and tho provinces and on the Continent, and the press criticisms of her voice and art are of a highly appreciative nature. The Hoya] Amateur Orchestral Society, a very select body, of which his Majesty tha King is president; and tho Prince of Walos vicepresidont, gave recently a grand orchestral concert in the Queen's Hall, and Miss Castles was tho solo vocalist. The hall was packed, and tho artist got a most enthusiastic reception. The Chief Justice of England presented Mis 3 Castles with a magnificent floral tribute. Miss Castles commences her Australian four nest September in Melbourne.
