January 31, 4.15 p.m.) London, January 81. ; The Conference of the Labour party. at Portsmouth, on the motion of the President (Mr, Keir Hardie), passed the following rel solution:—. ■.'■. . i' .-:'• ; That the Exeoutive ask the Labour , ,and Socialist organisations of ' the Empire whether they favour the hold- , ing of an All-British Labour Conference m 1910 to consider "matter? of '...' interest common ~to the working - class of all parts of the Empire; and - ;: that the Executive proceed to make ' the necessary arrangements for the ■, conference if: the replies are in the . affirmative. " : , , . ■ lit. Keir Hardie dwelt on the success of Labour in politics ia the Commonwealth, and added:—"Now that Labour has come into its own, it appears to us desirable to get closer, relationship with our comrades throughout the Empire in all matters appertaining to the welfare of the people." , ! ,•.' . ■ A Declaration for Socialisation; .By a small majority .the conference resolved in favour of socialisation of the means of production and distribution, and. the complete emancipation of labour:from' the domination of capitalism- and landlordism. ■.'■'-■."..■■-
