Melbourne, January,3o. Tho Prime Minister (Mr. A. Fisher), commonting on Mr. Watson's views in regard to the centralisation of government, states that unification is not within the bounds of practical politics.

Watson, the first Labour Prime Minister of Australia, is visiting South Africa.* Accord!Ff • a « oent cablegram, he warned the South African Closer Union Convention against following;• the example of Australia in allowing sovereigntytolarge States. . He ■■ expressed the opinion -that if, the African colonies federated the central Parliament should have , : much greater oontrol than in the case of Australia, and he held that it would be better if.it had a.far more, centralised constitution.
