DAIRY REGULATIONS.
A TARANAKI MEETING,
A meeting of dairy factory representatives and dairymen, convened by Mr. B. Dive, M.P. for Egraont, was held at Stratford on Thursday to discuss the proposed dairy regulations. All the districts were represented. There were,also present Messrs. Okoy, M.P. '(New Plymouth), Mr. Huie, M.P. (Stratford), and Mr. Dive, M.P. (Egmont). Mr. J. , Marx (Mangatoki) was voted to tho ■ chair. A motion objecting to the regulations in tote was, after a good deal of discussion, lost, and the meeting then dealt with the clauses seriatim. Clauses 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 9 were rejected, and a 20ft. race substituted foT 30ft. in clause 8. It was also" resolved to ask the Department to insert conditions that would bo fair as between owner and tenant in cases of short leases and where improvements have to bo made. A motion, "That the stock inspetcors should be inspectors under' the Dairy Industry Act, and that no others be appointed," was lost. - .
It was decided to send copies of the amendments to the Minister for Agriculture and M.P.'s for Taranaki.
