Under tno Public Sen-ice Classification Act, the term of employment may be extended .should the exigencies of tho public interest require it. Mr. H. L. In a letter Dr, Chapman states: —"I presume it would be quite out of the question to go to New Zealand. I quite agree with you thut it'is hotter to do the work thoroughly in a few places than to mako so rapid a tour through the States and accomplish little beyond tho inspiration which naturally comes frora-such meetings." ' Mr. Bertram F. M'Kennal, the Australian sculptor, has (says a London Press Association cablegram received last evening) been elected an Associate of the Royal Academy.
