Mrs. Keay was> appointed • delegate ;to the annual convention, ■which-will be, held -in Wellington v in March. Mrs. Garlick, who has rendered valuable - ser-' vioe, ,and 'Was an. .'"president, .was' made, a life .member. < JOTTINGS. : The biennial'competitions of the Nuw Zealand Fire' Association will be held at /Auckland about . the, ■ end',of' -March,' /and the, Petoner.Brieade ,is. to get a' team ready. The brigade, has; been in active training lately, and has been doing excellent' work, and it is hoped that the men hive' the opportunity of meeting such valuable experience as-would be gained by observing the city ' competitors. ; Arrangements are 'being' disoussed by the committee of the brigade, and a'decision will be arrived at shortly. : The only difficulty is that all the men will not be able to-be away and lose their, and wages in the interim. ■ Another batch' of ratepayers, in 'the .'Hutt Borough will: be proceeded' against 1 next Court day for overdue rates.'■ . - . ' ■' . .St. David's' (Pefono) Sunday School picnic was. held under .ideal, weather , conditions at Day's Bay yesterday afternoon, .when quite 300 pleasure-seekers of all 'ages made the trip in the' Cobar, '.which ''left' at - 2;30p.m. and returned at 7.30. The. usual'races, 'competitions, etc:,, were . run. off, . arid, all' present spent' , a most, enjoyable Duff; ; superintendent, and all the teaching staff saw that everything .went off well. The Rev. A. Thomson was present during the' afternoon.
