BEAUTIFUL WELLINGTON.
Now that the Oity Corporation's staff has almost completed tho eradication of the gorso on Mount Victoria, tho splendid opportunity that exists for making a hillside track from Boseneath to,the crest of the-Kilbirme Road seems to present itself .moro forcibly. From such a track a very fine view of tho whole of tho city and harbour would bo obtained, as those are aware who take a keen delight in climbing the slopes, of the range at present, and if a seat could bo placed here and there along such a track Wellington would be able to boast one of the best, most healthful, and inspiring mountain walks of any oity in Australasia. It is only since growing Wellington has been forced to'swarm up thfe hills for residential sites that tho beauty of the place has been recognised, but there aro many who have never attempted to scale tho surrounding .mountains, who would bo surprised at _ae glorious panorama revealod to the eye trom our immediate hill-tops. Only "recently Mr. Geo. H. Titheradge, the well-known actor who is a great walker, informed the writor that from tho hills above Brooklyn he caught the most magnificent view ho hud ever witnessed m his life, anS he wondered why more was not made of the beauties of beautiful W« Imgton. The making of a six-foot track about three-quarters the height of the ridge would not be a costly work, would be the beginning pf a movement in favour of beautifying the Town' Belt, and would be an incentive to a. keener and more general appreciation of the beauties of "the City of tho Strait." : .
