Several farmers, are grappling with the difficulty, and are making a. systematic clearance by. methodical . uprooting three 'or.' four times; ; during the year. In this way a farmer "will ■ soon clear his land of the pest. On several- ■ : holdings, however, the thistle has been allowed to grow until it !is now several' feet high and flowering. - In'this way an industrious farmer may suffer considerably if lie . has a slothful neighbour. whoso thistle is growing near the boundary fence.
