Death ivae almost instantaneous. The body was chopped into bits, and everyone present was allowed to take a Small portion as a memento. The remainder of tho body w-aa buried. Natives participating in tho act were sentenced to long terms of imprisonment. They were unaware)of their wrongdoing) and the sentences were suspended, conditional on the practice- being stopped.
