: Xu presenting its half-yearly report, the Board of the Wellington Typographical Union congratulates members on.tho increasingly sound financial; position of the union, and draws special ' attention to tho progress made during the past six months, as evidenced by the figures of.'.'the balance-sheet. Tho receipts from all 'sources for the half-year totalled: £2C2 15s. 5d., and the expenditure £110 10s. 'Bd., leaving a credit balance on tho term's transactions of £152, ,4s. 9d., which amount constitutes a' record in' the affairs of the union. The current half-year starts with: ft credit balance of £1149 Bs. 4d. The investment of tho funds of the union ;ivas considered by the board, With, the; result that £800 is invested .for-two years i at 4 . per. cent, per annum with the Union Bank; of-Australia. This iovdstmenfc includes three deposits, the. first (£300) maturing on June 1, 1910, tho second (£200) on November 16,. 191.0, and the third . (£BOOI on December 4, 1910. The interest earned during the pa3t year totals £23 15s. 2d., but this amount does not include six months' interest just dun on-one of tho £300 deposits invested with the Union Bank.' During the; half-year. 41 ; new:.; members wore admitted?tc the: union, 125 joining by paying entrance fee,' and 10 by clearance' cards. There wero 21 withdrawals, 19 members taking clearance' cards, and 2 resigning mcinberfehip, the uttion thus gaining 20, which'leaves 357 names on the roll. The annual meeting of tho union is to bo held on January 23.
