The liquor usually enters the. proscribed locality in tins and bottles labelled or consigned as jam, lieroseno, and vinegar. Kerosene is a favourite name amongst those engaged in the trSffic. Yesterday at the S.M. Court several persons were charged with, evasions: of the Licensing Act, and mulcted in heavy penalties. - George Hall was found guilty of importing a case of spirits, into Taumarunui, and was fined £50 and costs, which were another £25. A man named Murray charged with manufacturing; pverproof - hop beor. It was stated in evidence that it contained 9 per cent, instead of 2} -per cent, of, alcohol. Defendant ,was fined £5. and costs, which ran into another £13. A man.named Wilson was fined £5 for bringing liquor into the district.
