Auckland, January 13. ■ At the sales'lo-day, wool generally showed- a downward tendency; the American buyers withholding support, principally on account of the bad get-up and faulty packing of the wool. There was a total catalogue .of 7233. bales—the largest sale yet held in Auckland., Prices ranged., as'-follow:—For crossbred and halfbred, Bid- 'to-i°d-S medium,crossbred and Romney, 7Jd. to 9Jd.; coarse crossbred and Lin• coin, 6d.'t0..7d. j inferior and stained, sd. to sjd:; lambs,-5Jd. to BJd.'; locks and pieces (in poor demand), 2d. to Sd. The top, offer of the day was IOJd. for a particularly choice halfbred line of 26: bales from: the ■ Waikato, but this was passed in. .i .
