The question, of compensation to widows of contribUi;tors; who .die before:-retirement was again"! considered.! A committee was , set up to draft the .necessary amendments to. regulations in consequence of /the amending ;ActS: of last session., .The,secretary-reported-that-certain officers had availed 'themselves of the ■privileges conferred by. the amending Act of last, session by paying in a sum to enable them to count back service in. which a break had occurred, A schedule-of retiring allowances, and refunds of >contributions was passed by the board. At the quarterly meeting of the, Government Railways Superannuation Board, the •Hon. J. A. Minister for Railways, presiding, retiring allowances aggregating £2260 9s. Bd. were passed to twenty-five employees, As. the result of the payment of £15QQ by the Amalgamated Society of Rail-; way Servants to allow broken service caused by tho maritime. strike to count for super-, nnnuation., increased allowances, varying from £8 to £32 & year, were passed to seven men already on superannuation; Refunds of contributions totalling £1170 18s, Ed, were passed, and allowances amounting to £191 per, annum were authorised to be paid tq seven widows and five children of deceased railway men. In the cases of two deceased employees who had received bobio superannuation payments, the refund of £80 13s. 2d. to their representatives was authorised, this being the difference between their payments and the amount received in benefits. - :
