A NAPIER CASE. (BY TELEGEAriI—SrECIAL CORP.EBrONDEKT.) • Napier, January 11. The history of the case of 'Miss Katkerine Brown, an ex-nurse in the Napier Hospital, and the trustees-of that institution-, bids fair to develop, into a cause celebre in the treatment of employees by a. local, body. Some eighteen months ago, Miss Brown'was suspended by the matron of the hospital, MiES Edwards, on a complaint of alleged ill-treat-roent of a child. It was urged on her behalf that,' owing to. her. wrongful dismissal, she was debarred from obtaining her certificate, as a fully qualified'.nurse, and her career was blasted. After prolonged delay, the'case was heard .before Mr. S. E. M'Carthy, S.M., .who gave judgment in her favour, and said the. case was' undoubtedly one for substantial damages. Ho awarded her £125 and costs.
