A-. meeting-of representative boot manufacturers'of the Dominion was'held in the Employers' 'Association room to-day.- There-was a gopd 'attendanco of delegates, all the principal manufactories being represented. An important 'part of tho business transacted was the formation of a Now-Zealand Federation of Bootmakers, which was brought about by tho' amalgamation of the separate' associations of employers in the North and South Islands. Mr. -J. A. Frosticlc,. of Ghristchurch, was elected tho first president of the new. body. . To-morrow a conference will 'be held botween the Employers' Federation and tlio. representatives of the employees to see whether an_ amicable settlement of the terms and. conditions of; employment can be arrived at without appeal to the Arbitration Court. • ••
