A three-days' race meeting Will commence on .tho Wellington Pony and Galloway Racing Club's conveniently situated course at Miramar this afternoon. It ia expected that larger fields than usual will .contest to-day's events, and if the, weather continues fine the sport should bo quite up to tho ' general standard. As a special tram service Has been' arranged for from Courtonay l'laco to tho racecourse, the club's patrons should have no difficulty in reaching Miramar in time for the first race,, which is set down' for 2.30 &.m. The principal event, the . Prior to the, departure of the "Moeraki for 6ydney.;yesterday, I-h4d a further-interesting, conversation with Mr. J.. Burton.. Referring to tho Auckland Cup mooting, ho •said tho management - of- tho'• -.nxturo struck him. as ..particularly good, but the' system of sending the horses ,out twenty\minutes.before,tho,start-of each racewas ..not, in 'the- best' interests -of owners,.' trainers, and the.horses thomsolvos.
