: On Monday evening :a: meeting .of the members and adherents of the' Levin Presbyterian Church was held for the 'purpose of'calling a minister, the Levin Church nav.ing; been raised 'to tho status of' a- sanctioned charge. The Rev. I. Jolly, of Pal-•morstbh:'-Norths-Moderator' -of,the;"General Assembly,. preached! and; presided.''.' Mr. William Dempster moved, and Mr. Peter Stfewart seconded, that a call be given to the ■Rev.; Joseph "White, who Has been in charge of. the-Leviri, Shannon, and Tokomaru Home' .Mission 'Station since May' last.; Tlie ; motion was •carried ' unanimously,• 'and .'the "call : was ■signed '.by all -members' .present: 1 Messrs' P • Stewart, J. Boyd, and J. Robertson were appointed commissioners "to sutvnort the -'rail before the Wanganui Presbytery;'•»" The l Rev. Joseph "White came to Lovin on a year's engagement last May from Pleasant Point .South' Canterbury,' and Jias proved of , great service .to Presbytorianism m tho district.
