For' some dayß past Chief Detectives Herbert and M'llvenoy have been making inquiries into the mystery of tho seventoen'baliot papers which disappeared after, tho .of-r ficiaf recount on'tho second ballot, and it is said that tho officers have satisfied : themr selveß .as to how, whon, and. by whom tho papers were abstracted. If so.a prosecution may follow.' In the meantime tho,.'detectives will simply report to, their superiors. "
