ONE'S BOOKS AND AUTHORS.

- A PRETTY IDEA. Often,' in magazines, there aro excellent, pictures of the authors, who are writing tho tact and fiction of to-day. , Especially can these be round in the number of a magazine containing its prospectus for the coming year. , I always cut them out and put thom into an envelope, kept for the purpose (says an American woman). When a new book is added to our collection, I look through,my pictures) and if I have one of this particular author, I paste it on tho first page of the cover. , If 'I happen 'to know anything of note concerning nirn or hor I write it below. On the first fly loaf of tho book I write the name of' its owner, and the date. At tho very top of the page, in large letters, I wnto "Please Return", tho suggestion is , alleys heeded. Having.the authoi's picture gives a little feeling of acquaintance that I enjoy. If the book is one much read and talted about I cut out any criticism or review of it that I may find, and thus have the opinions of others concerning it! These clippings aro .either pasted m or slipped into an envelope pasted on tho inside or tho eovor.
