RIFLE SHOOTING.

DEFENCE RIFLE CLUBS' ASSOCIATION. EIGHTH ANNUAL MEETING. \ - The eight annual meeting, of the Welling- ] ton District Defence Rifle ciub's Association. j was held at Trentham Rifle Range yesterday, 1 under difficult weather conditions. The list of entries for the various events totalled 51 — eleven less than last year. This falling-off was principally duo to the fact that there''were . fewer entries from the. TJpper Hutt district, i owing to the holiday season. The number of entries was therefore considered to be fairly satisfactory. The programme for the meeting included four range matches —the' "Karori," at 200, 500, and 600 yards; the. "Pe- I tone," at 500 and 700 yards; "Upper Hutt," . COO and 600 yards; and "Opaki," at 700 ' yards, the first: three being seven-shot con- ■ tests, and the last a ten-shot single range i event.' There were also added four: aggregate competitions—the "Kolaporo Cup," decided on all scores at 200, 500, and 600 yards in the range matches;'the "Grand Aggregate" and championship medal, on all scores in the four range events; Teams' Match, on scores in matches -1, 2,-3, and 4 ; and the "Licensed Victuallers' Silver Cup," awarded to the higiest grand aggregate scorer in the first two matches.
