A twenty-five years' agreement has been concluded between the; French Government and the Messageries-Maritimes Company regarding subsidies, including one to the Australian line. The State will save £40,000 a year. It guarantees the company's new issue of bonds, which is designed to renew the company's fleet. The State reserves the right to participate in the profits of the subsidised line. . '
