THE KING'S MEMORY.
King Edward's amazing memory has been finely illustrated at the ancient St. Mary's almshouses in Chichester. With face glowing with excitement and pride an old lady inmate told a member of the staff of the. London "Christian World" 1 of August 21, this story: "The King visited us here some years ago, and when he camo into my room I thanked his Majesty for the- honour he had done mo. 'But,' I said .to him,,'there is one thing I should like, and. that ,is to see the .Queen.' 'So you shall,' he said, 'I.will'bring,lier next time I'come.' Well," continued tho'old lady, "last'.'Saturday the King paid us. a surprise visit.. He'camo.''into'.my room, and ho said, 'Do you remember me?' I said, ' I do your Majesty.' < 'Well done,'.'lie said, putting his hand ion my shoulder 'a good memory still, I see. And do you also remember what I promised years ago?' 'I do your Majesty; ypui promised to bring tho ; Queen,' 'I did,' replied ' King 'Edward, 'and : here sho is.' He introduced'her Majesty to me, and they both cave me a good hearty handshake."
