Owing to pressure on pur space the usual weekly reports of the hides sales have been held over till Monday. - . LIVE STOCK SALES. Messrs. Dalgety and Co.; Ltd., report at their fortnightly. sale at Dannevirke yesterday they had a good entry of cattle, a large attendance of buyers, and good competition. A good line of purebred shorthorn two-year steers realised a!is. Gd.; 3-year steers, 87s. Gd. j weane'r steer, 355.; 18-mouths and 2-year steers, GOs.; yearling steers, 41s. ' The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile report:—At Feilding on Friday we had a small entry of sheep and a fair entry of cattle. There was a rather better demand for hoggets, and cattle sold well, although steers were inclined to be a little easier. We quote:— Sheep: Cull hoggets, Gs. Gd. to Bs.; medium hoggets, 10s. 6a. to 13s. Cattle: Yearling steers, .£2 to «£2 Is.; 15 to 18-months heifers, <£2 Is.; low-conditioned 18-months steers, £'2\ 2 and 25-year steers (inferior), £2 155.; -2i and 3-year steers (rough), ,£3 155.; cows in calf, .£3; springing heifers, ,£3; bulls, =£3 to iES lfls.
Mr. H. E. Leighton reports:—At my Hutt stock salo I yarded- a large number of cattle. The attendance was good, and values were fairly satisfactory. i sold backward cows from £4 to £5 10s.; springing heifers, from .£3 . to .£1 155.; dry cows, £2 to ,£2 155.; steers, .£3 is.; bulls, £1 lis. . - Messrs. Hudson and Marriott, Ltd./ Levin, roport having held their usual.monthly sale of pigs at Shannon yesterday.: A very good; yarding of all classes came forward, numbering. 133 all told. The demand for prime porkers was keen, and we quitted every line under the hammer. Supplies of chilled beef have decreased. Mutton—Market firm, but pricos are unchanged. The market for lamb is firm; and prices sincb our last advices are id. per lb. higher. _ \ Tallow—Priccs are nominally Unchanged, but the tendency is downwards.
