The members of tlio i staff of the Wellington. Gas Company provided a most delightful concert at, the Missions to Seamen last night, when the Institute was crowded to tho doors with ,an appreciative audience. Tho missioned Mr. James Moore, occupied the chair. Vocal and elocutionary items wore contributed to tho programme by the following: Misses Palmer, Hayes, S. Hamilton, Edna Barrett, ■ Messrs. Bacon, Christie, - Young, Potter, and Barratt, and Master Christie. Miss Christie and Mr. Godier acted as accompanists. A conundrum competition was held and won by sailors from ships in port. During a short interval, the missionor delivered an : earnest, helpful address on tho temperance question, taking tho words " All for the sake of ——" for a subject. Eleven men subsequently took tho pledge of total abstinence as a result of the address. Hearty cheers were given to tho performers at tho conclusion, Mr/ Barratt briefly responding. Light refreshments' were afterwards dispensed.
