Auckland, October 21. - Herbert Ford, a dealer in jewellery, was nailed upon to answer a charge at the 1 olico Court to-day of having delivered to j 1 ittdy customer a document intended, or likely by reason of its wording or appearance to cause any person ignorant of the law to believe, that it had been issued by a court or magistrate or some court official, or that its delivery would have sonic legpj effect. Chief Dotectivo Marsacli producod the paper in question, bluo of colour, surmounted by the Royal Coat of Arms. It, was couched in legal phraseology, and the detectivo said was likely to deccive anv person ignorant of tho law and mako him or her believe it to be a legal process issued by somo person in authority, and induce belief that unless the goods 'wero delivered Court proceedings would follow. Tho magistrate said there was no necessity to resort to documents of this kind. It was clear that tho object was to frighten pcoplo. As this was tho first prosecution of the kind here he would imposo only a small fine of ss. "
