CRICKET.

WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the Wellington Cricket Association was held in Armit's Rooms last evening. Thero were ' present Messrs. M. F. Lnckie (in the chair), C. Stephens, S. Brice, A. F. Wiren, J. Pearcc, T. H. Wilson, B. L. Salmon, S. Jacobs, A. T. Bate, Geo. Burton, ani E. B. Vance (bon. secretary). A letter was received from the Midland Club, complaining that their third-class team had been allotted a wicket at Petohe last Saturday, but on arrival at . the snburban gTound found the wicket occupied by other players. It was decided to reply that the trouble had arisen through a misunderstanding, which would not bo likelv to occur again. •..* 1 lhe negotiations which have been proceeding between the association and the Wellington Rugby Union, in reference to the use of the; Athletic Park,-,were mentioned by the . chairman, who stated that matters were no further forward now than they were when the negotiations were commenced. A proposal had been made to the union, and this not being considered, satisfactory, the union made a counter proposal. After some discussion it was resolved to write to the union asking them to appoint a sub-committee to consult with a sub-committee from- the association, in the hope of coming to a definite arrangement on fresh terms. Messrs. Luckic, Stephens, and Vance were appointed to represent the association. The Wednesday Association was granted the use oI four wickets on tho Basin Reserve for Wednesdays, also two practice wickets on the same ground. The Wednesday Association was also granted the use of three wickets on the Athletic Park. An application for the uso of two evening practice wickets on tho Basin.Reserve was held over. ; It was decided that the attention of the Ground Committee be drawn to the lowness of some'of the nets at the Basin Reserve, with a view of taking action in the direction of avoiding accidents. The committee decided to take out an accident insurance policy to cover the risk of accident to any of its employees. It was decided to obtain a new scoring board for No. 4 wicket on the Basin Reserve, and also to get the scoring tins repainted, and to procure sis new chairs for the scorers' box in the pavilion.
