In the Hons© of Representatives, before a full House, Mr. G. H. Reid moved his motion of. censure in connection with tho Budget proposals of tho Government. In a slashing speech ho charged tho Government with reckless finance. Whilo thoy had an enormously increased revenue, they proposed •' to absorb tho whole revenue remaining "after paying back the 'threefourths to the Statfes. This would leavo nothing with which to meet tho 'vicissitudes of Federal finance. There was no margin of safety in such a desperate system of finance. Tho Federal services, especially tho Post Office and the Defonce Department, were, he said, being starved, whilo tho Government proposed a largely increased outlay in connection with old age pensions, the new defence scheme, immigration, and in other directions.
