MARQUIS NODZU, JAPANESE GENERAL.
(bi TEtßGttirn—ruEss association—corraonT.) ■ Tokio, October 18. General Nodzu, of Russo-Japanese war fame, is dead.
Goneral Nodzu commanded during the RussoJapanese war the army which was at first known as the third army, but wluch, after General Nogi's troops (the conquerors of Port Arthur), had joined the general, campaign, was known as tho fourth army. With General Kuroki (first army), Goneral Oku (second army), and General Nogi (third army), the deceased leader, under tho general guidance of Marshal Oyama, was in tho thick of the fighting; and at Mukden General Nodzu held the Japanese centre. During the Wai' of Restoration he fought on the side of tho Mikado, and during the war with China he captured Pinyang. He was born in 181-1.
