Tho Irish 'Estate Commissioners are compulsorily acquiring 1800 acres of Lord Clanricarde's estate in Galway.
At the end of last year the Estates Commissioners gave notice, in exercise of their compiilsory ( po)yers;.under,,the Evicted Tenants Act of 1907, to acquire certain lands in Galway belonging to the Earl of Clanricarde. The Earl's extortions and evictions are notorious. The Commissioners acquire the land for the reinstatement of evicted tenants; and' the Act provides that *any occupying tenant who is dispossessed, in order that the old tenant .may be restored, will be offered as good land elsewhere or be paid compensation.
