North, of Wellington,- who has just returned from the Australasian.Baptist Congress, presented a report of the congress, which had Droved mo&t v .;' ifuthusia'stie and' successful. Tho "'following" resolutions were adopted in ■— relation ". to it:—(1) Tho Baptist ,JUnion-.■.•expresses great satisfaction at the the 'congress, and rejoices in the ideal emphasised "of the Federation of the Australasian' Baptist Churches, and expresses its readiness to foster tho wider sympathies, .suggested by-this ideal. (2) That the union trusts'that ul timately a weekly Baptist paper.'may be'posi' sible, and meantime directs that Australian news be regularly included" in tho Now "Zealand Baptist. A further resolution was carried dealing with a uniform status sterial recognition, reeipfocal arrangements in relation' to' annuity funds. The union agreed to holding n' biennial cbrigress, and resolved to appoint a representative to the 1910 gatherings. Tho Sunday School Committeo's Teport showe'd'a most gratifying increase of scholars, ancUa y carrot "rigorous and successful work. The ...total number of scholars was 5973, an increase of 666 in 55 schools, four new schools ' having been' established during tho year. " Nelson, October 16. At tho Baptist Conference' to-day a deputation from the 'Nelson Ministers' Association was received, and the Rev. S. Kempton feelingly responded to tho good wishes conveyed by the deputation. "" Tho Revs. Ewen and Hobday and Mr. Gilbert Carson addressed largo open-air NoLicenso meeting this evening. ■ Tho Rev. Mr. Lamb sang, and tho Rev. Mr. Kempton presided. On Saturday afternoon a garden party will bo held in Bishop Mule's grounds, Bishopsdalo.
