(Before Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M.). CHARGE OF THEFT. Win. Henry Carlson was further remanded to ■ October 21 on a chargo of having, on July 10, stolen three £1 notes, 10 sovereigns, four half-sovereigns, one ISct. gold chain, and one silver hunting-watch, of a total value of £25, the property of AVm. Clements. , OBSCENE LANGUAGE. Thomas M'Gill, a young man, pleaded guilty to a chargo of haviiig ? used obscene language in AVillis Street, and was convicted f and fined £5, in default 21 days' imprisonment. An elderly man named John Patrick Coyle pleadod not guilty to a chargo of having used obsceno language in Lome Street, and, after hearing the ovidence, his /Worship entered a. sentenco of 21 days' imprisonment with hard labour, and ordered accused to pay witnesses' expenses, 10s. Simuel M'Cauley, who was in company with Coyle, also appeared on a chargo of having used obsceno language, and pleaded not guilty. He was convicted and fined £5, in default 21 days' imprisonment. MOUNT COOK POLICE COURT. At the Mount Cook Police Court yesterday morniiig, before Mr. J. Smith, J.P., one first offender for drunkenness was fined 55., in default 24 hours' imprisonment. This man had ou him the sum of £123 13s. lid. when lie was arrested, and he thanked the polico for locking him up.
