SWIMMING.
■The. tenth annual meeting of the Swifts Amateur Swimming Club was held at Armies Rooms last evening. The chair was occupied by Mr. W. Skegg. The adoption of tho report and balance-sheet (a precis of which, his-been • published) was agreed to. ...Thirteen''.new members wero elected. ' Tho following officers wore elected for the ensuing season: —President, Mr. C. P. Skerretti 'ILO. ; vice-presidents, Messrs. J. 6. W. Aitkeiij', M;P., 11. Chapman, J. A. Tripe, C." J. P. Maxwell, and Geo. Winder j captain, Mr. F. 'Wilton; vice-captain, Mr. C.'Moore:.management committee, Messrs.. C; V, Fordham, B. C. Freyberg, W. T. Wilmot, Wv Skegg, and G. Patterson; hon. secretary. Mr. E. S. Forne; hon. treasurer, Mr. A.'H. Stevenson; hon. starter and timekeeper, Mr. E. J. Fleming: hon, check sorter and timekeeper, Mr. W. F. Watt: hon.handicappers, Messrs. F. Wilton and A.; H. Stevenson; hon. auditor, Mr. F. J. Courtney delegates to Wellington Centre N.Z.A.S.A;, Messrs. C. Moore and A. H. Stevenson.. ' Mr.' C.' Moore was appointed to act as life-saving■ instructor to tho club. Ono speaker remarked that it had been found in Australia and in England that tho competitive ind life-saving branches could not be run ..together. Mr. Willmot thought lifesaving should go ahead if taken in hand seriously, and he suggested that medals or some' such J trophy should be offered for competition; between teams of four from each club. ! It was also suggested that the centre should be asked to distribute pamphlets on life-saving amongst clubs. A sub-committee was appointed to act with the ladies' branch in the management of that branch of tho sport.
