BUTTER EXPORT.
lONIC'S BIG SHIPMENT. The. lonic yesterday left Wellington for South Africa and Britain with the following quantities of butter and cheese among hor cargo, obtained from tho districts stated:— Butter. ; - . Jcwt. boxes; Auckland ... ' ... ... 2297 New Plymouth ... 6123 Patea .... ... 5438 ; - Wellingtori ... ... ... 1576 ' 15,434 Cheeso. Cases. ". New Plymouth ... ... ... 341 * Patea ... ... ; ... ... Wellington-. / ... 480 ' , 1338 ;- ! The 15,434 boxes of butter represent jii weight of just about 400 tons. The total quantity of New Zealand butter exported last season weighed 13,566 tons, so 'that the present shipment represents nearly a thirtieth of an ordinary season's export. The total export of butter for the whole month of September, 1907, ■ was 197 tons, and for the whole of last October 1131 tons.
