PORT NICHOLSON YACHT CLUB.

The twenty-fifth annual report of the Port Nicholson Yachting CUib shows that the season just passed has marked a great movement of activity amongst yachtsmen in Port Nicholson, the entries being remarkably persistent in fair weather and 'bad. Tho anniversary' regatta was held off . the Glasgow Wharf, and will be recorded as tlis most successful for many years. There wore fourteen events on the programme, ind a special race was put in for tho men-o'-war cutters. This latter race was a feature of tho day, as there were ten entries from the fleet in port, and tho enthusiasm of the Jock Tars resulted in'olio typical "bosun" sailing his boat under, and their wotting was cheerfully taken without any evil consequences. For tho club races there were seventy-nine entries. The first-class was again amongst the racing lists, and the Waitangi, Syren, and Ngaira put' up some interesting races. A long-distance race .round tho Black Pock was very popular, and uoxt season will, it is hoped, provide more than one of these races. Tho committee regrets to report that Mr. B. Clarke severed his connection with the club as an activt member. Tho club also lost two' enthusiastic members in Messrs. C. M'Keegan and W. Lambert.. During the year a large number of now members were, elected, the club's membership, being, now stronger than ever. Tho overtures made to the Wellington Harbour Board, in reference, to acquiring one of the larger untenanted sheds in the Boat Harbour for a club house fell through, as tho board declined to grant one at a nominal rental. The urgent necessity of securing some club house, oven a small one, is a matter which deserves the immediate attention of tho incoming committee. It is essential to the success of tho club that tho members should have a meeting place, where instruction classes cnnld ho held in seamanship, simple navigation, etc. It is gratifying to note, that tho Wellington Harbour Board has promised that tho Boat Harbour is to bo thoroughly dredged in accordance with tho requests of a deputation from the Boat Harbour Joint Committee.
