HOROWHENUA A. AND P. SOCIETY.
The annual report of' the Horowhsnua A. and P. Society, which was,.presented at. a meeting at Levin yesterday'afternoon, states that the total sum spent during the year in providing yards . and offices was £219 12s. lOd. further expenditure in that direction would be necessary this year. The .donations amounted to £121 Is. 6d. The year's; receipts were £407 os. 9d. -and the expenditure £378105. 5d., leaving a credit balance of £28 10s. 4d. Tne assets are, £231 10s. 2d., and the liabilities nil. Out of this year's receipts the last year's outstanding liabilities for timber, etc., amounting to £42 12s. sd. have been cleared off—an excellent position after two years' working. The members' subscriptions amounted to £83 15s. —an increase of £8 ss. The gate takings increased by £16 10s. lid., the figures for 1907 being £82 2s. 6d., and for 1908 £97 7s. sd. .The prize money showed an increase of £40 over last year's.' The question of holding a.two days' show would no doubt be gone fully into by the incoming officers.
