A Social Glub. AiClub for.womeu has been opened here.in Panama'.Street'.: .The membe'rs of.tho club will have the use of a largo sittiugroom where thero will be, tables ; with, magazines and writing materials.: Occasionally lecture's ,will be, .delivered, and a fepturo of the club will be its weekly social evenings. Some three years ago Mrs. Schoch,' the promoter of . the .present club, started such a club which continued in existence for about'a year, during ■ which time. various speakers delivered addresses at its meetings. Yesterday aftornoon there were about thirty women present, when the now club was opened, and Mrs. Hislop addressed the meeting.' She spoko of the growing tendency among women of tho present day to form themselves into clubs', and associations, and of the benefits' that•such associations provided.
The Hutt Floyjer Show. As a social'gathering of people from the Hutt itself and from town the Spring Flower Show held at the Hutt Town Hall yesterday seems to have beaten previous records. Certainly. at the last show there was nothing liko the same number of visitors from town. With the arrival of the passengers by the threo o'clock train the hall became almost jammed with people, .and still they poured in, most of - them in pretty summery costumes arid flora) hats,, quite unprepared for,tho deluge of rain that came later, in tho afternoon. Mrs. .Chapman,, wife of the president' of the club, wore - a dainty . costume of pale'heliotrope cloth trimmed with motifs, o'f: velvet of a deop purple shade, and her' floral .'toque was .covered -with' pale,, delicately-coloured wistaria, with .two large pale'pmk.roses.aid.

A very enjoyable tea was given .on Tuesday afternoon by Mrs. Louis Blundell and Mrs. Fulton at Mrs. Bhiridell's home as a. farewell to Mrs. MacEwan.- The rooms were filled with spring flowers, and. the • tea-table' very effectively . decorated with'- .cerise-coloured anemones and ribbons of tho same shade. Among the guests were Mrs. Cormack, Mrs. Miles, Mrs. Stott, Mrs. Hales, Mrs; Knox, and Mrs. Bristow.
Mrs. Barker and the Misses Barker (3), of Gisborno, are at present-staying at the Grand Hotel, Mrs. Cliff (Blenheim), .Mr. and' Mrs. Hale (Masterton),, and Mrs. Neill (Feilding) are also among the visitors to Wellington who are staying at the same hotel. Mrs.'Nelson's charming rooms were decorated with anemones yesterday afternoon, when sho gave a tea, at which a large number of guests were present. Mrs. F. M. 8., Fisher sang some songs delightfully, and' : both Miss Fulton and Miss B. Miles gavo recitations. • Mrs. Cormack, of Carterton, is staying in town, and is the. guest of Mrs. Louis Blundell. Mr. and Mrs. John' Blundell returned by the . Warrrmoo ; yesterday morning. from a holiday trip to'the South Sea Islands.
