CRICKET.
ANNUAL MEETINCS. Several local cricket clubs held their annual meetings last evening, as given below: — ORIENTAL CLUB. Tho eleventh annual meeting of tho Oriental Cricket Club was held last evening, at Godber's rooms, Mr. A. Moore occupying tho chair. About twenty members were present. In the annual report, the committee regretted that the position attained by tho club -for tho past season was not of such a satisfactory, nature as in previous seasons. This was due, in a great measuro, to the fact that several members were unable to assist during tho latter part, owing to their being absent from town, etc. Batting honours fell to Mr. A. Mooro (senior) and Mr. Coltman (junior), the runners-up being Messrs. C. Little and Luks respectively. Mr. R. Picken obtained tho best bowling average with 15 wickets at a cost of 11.9 runs, with Mr. M'Kenzie well up with 23 wickets for an average of 13.27 runs. The senior eleven won four out of nine games. Tho balance-sheet showed a credit of £2 155.. 6d. The'report and balance-sheet were adopted. Tho following officers were elected: — Patron, Dr. Young; president. Mr. G. Winder; vice-presidents, his Worship the Mayor (the Hon. T." W. Hislop), Drs. Herbert, Hogg, Gilmer, and Hendry, Messrs. F. Moore, Crouch, P. J. O'Regan, F. M. B. Fisher, M.P., J. P. Luke, J. S. Hunt, and J. Meston; captain, Mr. A. Moore: honorary ■secretary and treasurer, Mr. J. C. Cusack; assistant honorary secretary I and treasurer, Mr. H. S. Coburn; management, committee, Messrs. ' Doriohue, Burley, Duncan, and M'Kenzie; senior selection committee, Messrs. Moore, Billman, and Cusack; junior, Messrs. Duncan (2) and Coburn; delegates to the Wednesday Cricket Association, Messrs. Cusack, Burley, and Donohue. Tho retiring secretary, Mr. W. J. Billman, who has held offico for four and a half years,' was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. UNION CLUB, ' The ninth annual meeting of'the Union Cricket Club was held at the New Zealauder Hotel last evening. Mr. W. Ridson occupied the chair, .in ' tho absence of Mr. J. C. Trickett.Tho report contains the following:—"The olnb is .to be. congratulated; on at Tast winning the senior championship for the season 1907-8. The,membership of the club, is still strong, but on account of the loss of several of our most prominent , members it behoves each member ta use .his utmost endeavour to farther the interest of the club. It is with regret we. have, to record tha death of one of our prominent members in' Mr. W. Davies. The late Mr. Davies proved himself a very useful and enthusiastic member. The following trophies were won during the - year:—Senior—Batting: Mr. Trickett's trophy, won by Mr. Weybourne, average 40.4. Bowling: Mr. Godber's trophy, won by Mr. C. M'Gill. " Junior —Batting: Mr. Aldous's trophy, won by Mr. Dingle. Bowling: Mr. Langdon's trophy, won by Mr. Hollis. Most impro/ed player: Mr. Bloxam's trophy, won by Mr. Wliitton."

The annual..ineetjng of the Rival Cricket Club was held ,at the New Zealander Hotel last evening, Mr! C. ; Wyatt being. in the chair. The report and balance-sheet wcro adopted. Five'new members were elected.- It was decided to rescind'a resolution ■ adopted last year, restricting the membership. : It was suggested that the question of practice pitches : should be brought before the annual meeting of the Wednesday Cricket Association. - -
