A tea was given at Mrs. Malcolm Ross's home yesterday afternoon as a farewell to Mrs. MacEwan, Mrs. Ross and Mrs. Stott being joint hostesses. The rooms were filled with beautiful flowers, and the: table decorated with spring flowers aud birch "leaves. Lady Ward and Mrs. F. M. 8.. Fisher sang some songs, and Mrs. Malcolm Ross recited. Mrs. Ross wore a black frock, - with cream lace and touches of pink; Mrs. Stott was in a claret coloured frock, .with. velvet coat of uhe same shade, and a picture hat; Mrs. MacEwan's handsomo dress was of floral silk, and with it she wore a black picture hat. Among others present were Lady Ward, -Mrs. Nelson, Mrs." Fitchett, Mrs. Ewen, Mrs. Mijps, the Misses Palmer (2), Mrs. Gunn, Mrs. Hales, Mrs. M'Kellar, Mrs. Fisher, Mrs. Brist-ow, Mrs. Riley, Mrs. L. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Beauchamp left yesterday by the Wbakarua for -a trip to Australia. They intend to go as far nortli as Townsville.

Yesterday. at Miramar • tho Hutt Ladies' Golf Club played tho Karori Ladies' Club. The wind, which was bad enough in town during most of the day, was very much-raoro furious, out there, and the players' had finally to give'up the attempt to keep their motorcaps on, and play with veils tied over. thcir hair. : The Miramar ladies provided* the tea, which was served on prettily-decorated tables. The Hutt team won by one' game.. Prizes were given. to thoso who made.tho/highest score on each side, and the winners were Miss Gavin for Karori and Miss-Foster for the. Hutt. , ■
