SCULLING: THOROUGHGOOD AND WHELCH.
Sydney, September 21. B. Thoroughgood, champion of Australia, has signed articles to row Geo. Whelch (New Zealand) for the championship of Australia. The race 'will probably be on the Hunter River. The date is not yet fixed. Thorougkgfiod, to whom Tresidder handed over the championship of Australia, has defeated ono challenger, Fogwell. Whelch is the third New 'Zealander who has sprung into sculling prominence'in the last two years.
