A return shows that deaths from tuberculosis in New South Wales in 188F (when the population was 927,225) numbered 1458, 1907 (when the population totalled 1,554,783) they-numbered 1234. The- decrease , has been steadily progressive. Taking the New South Wales figures for 1907, the death -rate is nearly 8 per 10,000 persons. According to the Health Department's returns, in 190G the deaths from tubercle in New Zealand wero 8.0-1 per 10,000. ' In 1885, with a population, of 927,225, New South Wales had 1458 deaths; in 1897, with a population of 721,009, New Zealand had 763 deaths. In 1907, with a population of 1,554,783, New South Wales had 1234 deaths; in 1906, with a population of 895,594, Now Zealand had 720 deaths.
