Well up to time the Federal-Houlder-Shiro Line steamer Rippingham Grange, Trom Liverpool direct, arrived:in the stream at 5.15 p.m. yesterday. The vessel will undergo the customary examination this morning, and after pratiquo is granted will berth at Taranaki Street wharf. THE HAUROTO. At midnight on Tuesday, the Union Company's Island trader Hauroto, from Suva, left ■ Auckland for "Wellington, and is duo here early 011 Friday morning. THE WHAKARUA. Yesterday afternoon the Tyscr Lino steamer ; Whakarun" left Napier for Wellington in con- , tinuation of her voyntro from London. The vessel has called at Melbourne, Sydney, and Auckland cn route. 1 MAITAI, FROM SYDNEY. At 1.25 a.m. the Union Company's steamer Maitai, from Sydney direct, arrived in the stream. The vessel left Sydney on Saturday afternoon, and passed Farewell Spit at 2.10 p.m. yesterday. She lias on board 21 saloon and 50 steerage passengers for Wellington, and will probably berth shortly after eight, o'clock this morning, when cleared by the Health and Customs officers. THE TAIERI. Captain Holm, sen., has assumed command of the steamer 'I'aieri, which was purchased from the Union ■ Compfny by the Maoriland S.S. Company. Ho has with him the following officers:—Chief, Mr. Clark, late of tho Torgauten; second Air. Tibbelt. , Mr. If Masters, the chief engineer, will remain with tho vessel, Mr. Young, late of the Enncrdale, goes as second engineer, and Mr. Smith signs on as third engineer. ■ The principal dimensions of tho Taieri are as follow-Tonnage, 1663 tons gross, 12SG tons under deck, and 1071 tons net; length, 261 ft.; beam, 37ft. 2in.; depth, 16ft. Bin. Sho has a moulded depth of 10ft. 2iu. Tho engines, which nre of the triple expansion type, were manufactured by Palmers' Company. Tho Kaitangata left Westport for Wellington yesterday. Early this morning the Union Company's steamer Pultaki is fixed to leave Greymouth for Wellington. This morning the Tyser Line steamer Indralema is expected to leave Wellington for Lyttelton. Mr. Nicholas relieved Mr. Jelly _ as chief officer of the Pateena for last night's trip. He is to join tho Maitai at Lyttelton as second officer on Friday. The hulk America was floated ont of the Auckland Dock the other day, after having ,the copper stripped off, and'was towed up to Pino Island, where sho will be broken up. . Yesterday.-afternoon the Union .Company's Island trader Tofua .left. Auckland: for, Tonga, Samba, Fiji, and Sydney. : Tho vessel. has recently been painted and overhauled at Calliope Dock. . The Union Company's steamer Arahura got away from Greymouth early .yesterday ; morning, and was to leave Westjiort at 11 p.m.' for Nelson and Wellington, being due here this evening. According to the " Lyttelton. Times!" tho steamer Dulwich,which. was expected to discharge Oregon pir.e at Wellington, is to leave Lyttelton on Friday for Auckland, 'where she is to land tho balance of her timber cargo. On arrival at Wellington to-morrow the Pateena withdraws from the Wellington-Lyttel-ton ferry service, being relieved by- the Maori. The Pateena lays up at Wellington for overhaul, and in about a week's time will re-enter the Wcllington-Picton-Nelson service.
