NATHAN - JOSEPH WEDDING.
« LARGE AND FASHIONABLE . . GATHERING. A wedding that created a great deal of interest in Wellington was celebrated yesterday afternoon at the Synagogue, when Miss Efsie Joseph, daughter of Mrs. Jacob Joseph, was married to Mr. Fred Nathan, son of Mr. Joseph Nathan, of London. A very largo number of guests had been invited to tho wedding, many nioro indeed than the Synagogues would accommodate, and only a small proportion were able to witness tho ceremony. Tho Synagoguo had been elaborately decorated with palms, bamboo, and wliito flowers. Tho pulpit, which stands in the centre of tho building, was wreathed with twining lycopodium and adorned with white flowers, and in tho arched windows were great jars filled with magnolias, arum lilies, and narcissi, while everywhere were palms and graceful foliage. A wedding bell, hung above.the head of the bridal party, was of white flowers with ■ tho initials of brido and bridegroom. • Tho service was in Hebrew, and there was no music, a curious part of tho ritual consisting of tho breaking of a wine-glass by tho bridegroom, this being said to signify that never shall tho tie between bride and bridegroom be broken until the fragments of tho glass are pieced together. The Rov. Van Staveren conducted tho : service. The bridesmaids were Misses Gladys and Zaideo Nathan, daughters of Mr. Walter Nathan; Misses Marjorie and Edith Joseph, daughters of Air. Joseph Joseph; and . Misses Eileen. and Nell Nathan, daughters of Air. D. J. Nathan. Tho best man was Mr ; -Phil Nathan, and tho groomsmen Messrs. Charles, George, Stanley, and E. It was made in semi-emp:ro style, with a simply folded bodice drap-cd with blonde lace, and with sleeves of the same lace. A spray of lilies, orange blossom, and .wliito heatner. (white heather for luck), fastened the folds of tho bodice in front, and tho long train of silk net was exquisitely embroidered with roses, repenting the design on. the skirt. Tho tulle veil,-which was absolutely plain, was fastened to a coronet of lilies and orange blossom, and the shower bouquet was of white orchids, azaleas, and maidenhair ferns, with ono long, magnificent spray of tho beautiful odonto glossum orchid. Tho bridesmaids wore dainty frocks of wliito marquisette mado in semi-cmpiro style with double skirts, and trimmed with bands of white filet net embroidered in white silk. They had deep yokes of 'tucked chiffon and very deep collars of the filet net, square and reaching ; almost to the waist, back 'and front, edged with the narrowest silver braid and finished with, silver tassels. Thero were pouches of silver 'in tho bands of tho elbow sleeves,. and tho wide girdles, which finished in a knot at the back, were of silver tissue. Tho smaller bridesmaids wore charming little frocks of. white marquisette made very full, with fichus of tho marquisette edged with narrow Valenciennes lace, and short sleeves of littlo lace'frills. All the bridesmaids wore Charlotte Corday hats of cream silk net with wreaths! of tiny cowslips under tho brim, and a bunch of cowslips at the side. They carried'white gold-beaded staves, to which were fastened bunches of tho samo golden brown cowslips tied with long streamers of; green ribbon.
