Mr. W. Pryor, secretary, . of the .federation, informed a Dominion"representative 'yesterday that it was desired to correct this impression. The employers all through the Dominion;.Mr.'Pfyor stated, were endeavouring, to sornd'means by which the workers; might be 'indnced-to increase their officiericy and give their very'best services to tK'eir employers. ; "While the federation had had to intimate that it was opposed to the exertion wage clause in 'tho Arbitration Bill, it was only, .opposod to the clause because it felt that "it was impossible to put suclj a; system into ,operation by means of tho Arbitration Court, or any othor tribunal that might bo'set' up. 'The Bill provided that the Coiirt should-have n"6' power to fix an exertion -wage - unless both parties to the award were agreeable,-»-but. the employers wore afraid that -such, a clause jpado ' this year.;,might bo amended very shortly, and tho; Court-be-given ■full power to fix an exertion wage on the application of any party, which would, bo a dangerous power to put in.,the.hands of any :tribunal in a matter of that kind.-."
